Research Interests

Rajadurai is interested in the study of remotely sensing harmful algal blooms (HABs) in the Red Sea. He has developed a new remote sensing model combining satellite observations with available in-situ datasets, to detect and investigate the different HAB species in the Red Sea. He is currently focusing on studying the seasonality and interannual variability of HABs in the Red Sea over the last two decades. Rajadurai's future research plans will be directed towards developing using remote sensing techniques to detect coral reef bleaching events in the Red Sea and study the occurrences of these events in relation to the global and regional climatic conditions.
