Research Interests

Samah's research focuses on oil spill modeling and its applications to marine pollution, coastal protection and offshore oil and gas exploration. His work involves developing advanced forward and backward tracking methods in stochastic flow fields described by ensembles of velocity fields to forecast the fate of an oil spill, or to locate possible sources of a contaminant release. To this end, Samah is using mathematical models in a Bayesian framework to infer model parameters and forecast the fate of contaminants from the inversion and assimilation of remote sensing images (from satellites and/or drones).
