Research Interests

Dr. Sivareddy's research uses advanced ocean modeling and data assimilation for reconstructing and forecasting the ocean circulation. He has implemented various data assimilation schemes (3DVar, LETKF, EAKF) with different ocean models (MOM, ROMS, MITgcm) and assimilated in-situ and satellite observations. Dr. Sanikommu uses the outputs of the assimilation systems to better understand the ocean dynamics, air-sea interaction processes, and the impact of various ocean observation networks. He is currently focusing on the development of a balanced ensemble ocean data assimilation system for the Red Sea using MITgcm and DART. The system will be used to derive the first high resolution Red Sea ocean reanalysis and forecasting system assimilating all available observations.
