Biography

Sumit received his PhD in physical oceanography from the Centre for Oceans, Rivers, Atmosphere and Land Sciences (CORAL), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in March 2018. Sumit's recent research focuses on the internal tides, mixing, and entrainment processes in the Southern Red Sea. Earlier, Sumit had worked on the interannual variability of western Bay of Bengal boundary currents, mesoscale eddies and the variability of upper ocean characteristics associated with Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) events using observations and numerical ocean models.
